ANIMATIONS FOR NHL ON ESPN
ROLE : ANIMATION 2D & 3D | COMPOSITING
We partnered with MakeMake to craft a series of animations for NHL. We used a combination of traditional 2D techniques and 3D environments. This approach produces a hybrid style that blends graphic design aesthetics with high-end, realistic visuals.
SIZZLE REEL
This sizzle reel, created by ESPN to introduce the new branding, showcases several animations and demonstrates their impact across the NHL brand, individual teams, and live broadcasts.
ANIMATION | TEXTURES & SURFACES
We explored various surfaces related to the hockey world, including close-ups of clothing, stop-motion animated tape, and wall textures. These quick animations were designed to provide a high visual impact, transporting the viewer into the NHL world.
PROCESS | CEL ANIMATIONS + 3D RENDERS
The first step of our process involved developing a concept and customizing every element, including logos and typography. These animations are based on the concept of melting ice, created using traditional cel animation. The second step was to load these animated elements as textures into realistic scenarios within Cinema 4D, and completing the final compositing in After Effects.
